Fiesta All-time favorite-Leche Flan
3rd sunday of May, a significant day for "laking tondo" like myself. That only means our parish is having a fiesta to commemorate our parish patron St. Joseph. And fiesta only means party, party, party.When you hear the word "tondo" you would probably think of it as a stinky, dangerous, and gangster-inhibited place. For a person who haven't been to our town, they are most probably to avoid going to our place, if not, avoid taking the way passing through tondo and take the longer way instead if they need to go to Navotas, Divisoria or Caloocan. Though the stereotypes about tondo has been filling minds for ages, still, Tondo hides it's real nature: camaraderie among homeowners, concern for the whole community, and concern for safety per se. Those aspect of tondo have been shown in our baranggay for this year's fiesta. What's so great about fiesta is that, it gave our family a chance to reunite and catch up with each other. Oh I just missed my cousins.
Of course, a fiesta without gastronomic adventure is, well, not a feast at all. And yearly, all mothers in our family cook foods that can only be tasted on special occasions. Lechon, Garbanzos, Ube Halaya, Leche Flan, and the all-time favorite- Kare-Kare. 2 types of Kare-Kare were served. One is Seafood Kare-Kare cooked by my aunt, and the other, the traditional Kare-Kare. Both recipes are handed down by our late grandmother, Aling Adeling. It' so nice to be with my cousins. We sang together, took pictures together, had our nails painted, and ate our favorite, leche flan! We ate like pigs! (:

Astig sa pandinig ng stranger ang lugar na tondo. Pero I know kapag resident ka dyan u r so safe kasi takot ang mga gangster na pumunta dyan. Ganyan naman talaga, kapag mababait ka sa mga tambay, ipagtanggol ka nila sobra. Yan ang tinatawag na pakikisama at dapat may respeto ka.
Ikaw kasi ang hilig mo sa photographer kaya ayun ginawa kang photographer. hehehe.

swerte ka kasi clsoe mo mga pinsan mo. ako, nako. kami, though hindi naman nag-aaway, e may gap. kasi hindi kami lumaking magkakasama. kung hindi pa nga sinabi sa amin na pinsan namin sila, e hindi namin malalaman.
mahilig din ako sa leche flan, ewan ko nga kung kelan yung huli kong kain niyan e. kainggit ka.
sana naman nagtira ka. haha pero ayos lang, kung ako nasa kalagayan mo, wala rin akong kakilala, kahit pinsan ko pa. :D

hehehe. Sarap ng seafood kare-kare promise!!! May alimasag, tahong, tsaka sugpo...wahahaha!!! nabadtrip nga yung kuya ko eh kasi allergic na siya sa seafood, eh favorite niya seafood! hahaha!
Yung stereotype about sa tondo, oo may kaguluhan nga dun, pero pagdating naman sa pakikisama, number one sila. And the good thing about our area, Gagalangin (it's the safest area in Tondo), it really lives the glory of it's name. Wala masyadong gulo, unlike sa iba.
ang hilig ko sa photographer??? baka sa photography? hehehe! ok lang yun na ginawa nila akong photographer, hilig ko naman eh.

close kami ng mga pinsan ko kasi we used to live in the same hourse before, sa bahay ng lola namin. Pero ngayon, hiwa-hiwalay na kami, pero nasa iisang area lang naman. Another thing, kasi first cousins ko sila, pero ung 2nd and third cousins namin di na namin kilala.
hehehe! minsan na lang din ako makatikim ng leche flan. Una kung may special occasions like christmas, etc. or bumibili yung mother ko.
